The Festool 497300 Carvex Jigsaw Steel Base Insert in corporates a plastic base with steel insert. The Festool Steel Base is for use when cutting non-ferrous as well as ferrous (steel) up to 3/4″ and 3/8″ respectively. The base is resistant to picking up splinters or metallic dust and debris that can scratch your work surface and become embedded in a plastic base without a steel insert. Be sure to utilize a spark trap when cutting metal with a Festool Carvex Jigsaw.
